When I had my first cellphone, I thought that one day I would play the games that I played on my computer. When I first thought about that I had no Internet connection in my house so couldn't even dream about going online and surfing web using cellphone. Today I try to dream about future and I really can't imagine what else can cellphone do...

First there was nothing then newspapers appeard then radio then TV and now there is Internet that behaves like newspaper, radio TV and much more so how on earth we can assume that we do not need computers for our teaching career.

Today, I heard the las assignment for this course. How interesting!!! At the beginning it was like it is never gong to end and now it is over except eportfolio. This course was very helpful for my whole computer experience. Not only just for my major but also for my daily life and other courses.

Although I realized that computers can be much more useful than I used to think, I still think that the teachers and educators should be very careful about computers and technology. In my first blogs I was questioning the use of computers. I still do but now I realize that there are really big benefits of computers while there are strong disadvantages. What I believe is, It is all teachers who make technology advantage or disadvantage.

Creating Web Page

I found out that creating a web page make students enjoy the lesson more than other activities because now, everybody is doing facebook, myspace, blogger... so creating web page is not just related to class but it is a daily activitiy. Because of that web pages take a lot of attenrtion.

A screen saver is not an energy saver. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 75% of all the electricity consumed in the home is standby power used to keep electronics running when those TVs, DVRs, computers, monitors and stereos are "off." The average desktop computer, not including the monitor, consumes from 60 to 250 watts a day. Compared with a machine left on 24/7, a computer that is in use four hours a day and turned off the rest of the time would save you about $70 a year. The carbon impact would be even greater. Shutting it off would reduce the machine's CO2 emissions 83%, to just 63 kg a year.

It doesn't matter how many sources or aids the teacher have in her class unless her lesson 0plan is well prepared. New technologies can only be helpful if they are integrated with other course materials. Good lesson plans provide information about everything that is related to the course so it is very likely that the teacher successes.

SCHOOLS NEED MONEY

Like the computer softwares, teachers should be updated about the new softwares and aids that can be useful in the classroom. Learning how to apply specific technology is never enough so teacher always search for the better so the best instruction could be given.

As teachers are using computers in their classrooms, are they becoming more creative or more dependent. One of the main job of the teacher is to create an image of the topic by activities, interactions or grup works but if there is a computer, students do not need any of those. When we think it that way, does it really help teachers to teach or students to learn?

Do We Need Computers to Teach Something

Students learn much better when they are able to perform their fresh knowledge but in computer oriented classrooms this is tru only if the students are learning how to use computer. If the lesoon is somethingelse, for example logic, biology or English, there is no need for computer for each student. In that kind of classes only one computer which is used by instructer is necessary and also smart board or similar products connected to that computer. So discussing the cost of computers for education is not something that educaters should consider. What is important is using that one single computer efficiently.

Maybe it is the computer companies who put computers in our classrooms and made us reliable on them. Have you ever thought about it before? It is a big business about hundreds of billion dollars and the more schools have computer the more students have computer and then the more money companies make like Apple, Toshiba, Sonny..... It is not over when someone once bought it like I said it is business. No matter how fast your processor of computer is because software companies will create softwares that needs faster and faster processors of better and better features then computer companies will make more expensive ones. That's the circle never ends.

YOU CAN NOT IGNORE TECHNOLOGY WHEN TEACHING AND IT IS YOU WHO MAKES TECHNOLOGY WORK IN THE CLASSROOM
